Version 4.2 of GUIdancer, the award-winning automated functional testing tool, is now available for download. Highlights of the new release include support for applications written with Eclipse 3.6 (Helios) as well as various new options to analyse and debug tests. The GUIdancer approach to testing lets testers create flexible and maintainable tests parallel to software development and without any programming effort.

Version 4.2 of GUIdancer offers comfortable support for test result analysis and the debugging of tests to investigate error scenarios. Test results saved in the database can now be reopened directly in the GUIdancer client and easily navigated using new options to spring to errors. Using the information from the error description and automatic screenshots, testers can quickly pinpoint the cause of an error.

The latest version also offers the option to pause a test if an error occurs, allowing direct error analysis during test execution. A new feature to deactivate Test Cases also im-proves the ease with which tests can be “debugged”.

“Testers working with GUIdancer 4.2 will notice that their daily work of analysing test results, re-running failed tests to analyse errors and adapting tests to changes in the software have become more comfortable” said Achim Lörke, project lead for the GUIdancer team. The latest version of GUIdancer is available for download on the GUIdancer website. Free live-demos of the software are available on request.
