EclipseCon Day Three Roundup

Day three at EclipseCon, and there's still no shortage of news, or people blogging about the conference.

Ian Skerrett blogged about the Microsoft's investment into SWT development on the Windows Presentation Foundation. It's a good first step as Ian says and hopefully we'll see some results of this in the next few months. We covered some initial news on this last week on the ITNews Zone.

Ed Merx did another great job of covering the day, also making some comments about the MS/Eclipse news. Most interestingly he discussed the E4 talk. When it comes to E4, it's best to leave the last word (for now) to Jeff McAffer. It's something that definately deserves an article of it's own in the coming weeks.

Tom Seidel posted up his presentation, plus source code, for the Flash - Eclipse Communication Prototype.

Product Announcements

Ian also wrote about some of the new product announcements from yesterday, including RIM's Java Development Environment based on Eclipse. Ed Burnette has covered this product in detail discussing how you can now easily create applications for Blackberry, Android, Symbian, Palm and IPhone in the familiar Eclipse environment.
There is also the PowerSQL IDE from Embarcadaro. It's good to see so many companies making use of what the Eclipse platform provides.
